Don't fret about your sewing skills, that stitching might look "Frankenstein" style, but as long as it works, no one will ever know what it look like under the tire and glue anyway.
It's bad enough we male bikers are made fun of about tights, leg shaving, and other "fancy lad"/"Nancy Boy" sounding stuff, but we can always say that even tough old sailors had to do sewing on the big sailing ships of the past!
