Tire size. 12 gram won't generally fill a tire to full pressure, although it usually does fill it after I say "screw this" to hand pumping.
IMHO the real reason to use 12g is you can get them dirt cheap at WalMart and they will get you up to approx 90PSI with usual road tires, which is enough to get you home.
