You sure? Since 1997 he's never had more than one model made of aluminum in his lineup. The same goes with lugged frames. He builds a lugged frame as a tribute to his teacher, but his best frames are all TIG'ed steel.
A good TIG-welded joint looks like a row of quarters, flopped over, no matter what material you're working with. Small and tidy, with the puddles evenly sized and spaced.
