So, now that my classes are out for the week I decided to tackle stripping the frame and its fork. After trolling the forums I came to the conclusion that the fastest, quickest, cheapest and safest (for the bike) was to use an aircraft finish solvent, or, airplane remover as its refered. This stuff is very impressive, its made quick work of the finish. After using the stuff I understand why everytime this stuff is mentioned in a thread, its recommendation is quickly followed by a warning. Nasty, Nasty stuff.

All together it took maybe 30 min for both to get 95% of the finsh off, the rest i'm going to tackle with 120 grit automotive sandpaper, followed by some 400 to smooth out the finish.

Really impressed with the results, have a bit of work to do still, but it shouldn't take to long to get to the point where I have to start choosing colors and finishes and such. Any suggestions, let 'em rip.

PS: as a side note, there was a thread recently in Road Cycling about the weight of paint. The finish on this bike weighed approx. 2 oz. I have complete weight data (by component) for the bike in its original form and now but I won't reveal that until i get further along.
