I conducted a test: I inflated my tire/tube with a CO2 thingy to 100psi. 18 hours later, I took it's pressure - 68psi. I did the same thing with air - 100psi to 87psi in 18 hours.

Summation: CO2 should only be used for emergencies on the road.
