I see my three fans all weighed in. Same trio from day 1. Apparently, I have commited the crime of "Wrongforumness". Where would I place this? Do you think I might like to post to other commuters with whom I feel a kinship, instead of a bunch of roadies or mtb-ers.? Oh wait. That gets RIGHT in the underwear seam of those folks who feel frustrated because they never got to be a hall monitor. If this were CLEARLY a different, totally unrelated issue like problems with a stoker on a tandem, I would post there. If you want to waste your time "correcting" my selection of which forum I use, feel free to do so. Some critics use the word "rant" as if it were an indicator of the worth of a post. Some posts are highly technical. Some are informative. A few are controversial. Others just share the joy of biking with others.
Are we now going to place a "VALUE" on the KIND of post made? I personally LOVE to read the rants of others. Some of the funniest stuff on this BOARD is from rants! I've noticed that some folks are CONSTANTLY trying to regulate this board by complaining about the frequency and type of posts made. They go to great pains to point out WHOM they ignore. (Irony alert: to IGNORE is to take no note of.)The surest way to shut up an obnoxious poster is to IGNORE him. My posts may sometimes engender criticism , but they DON'T go unread or uncommented on. And they are NOT written just to get a reaction. Discussion is informative and enlightning. But almost no post I write is deliberately provacative. I believe I had one that streched 50 some pages before the BOARD killed it! And of course my "3 Amigos" took me to task in it with a vigor I initially mistook for personal rancor. For the grammarians amomgst us i know it's a LONGISH, but self-contained paragraph.
I want to point out I am a BIG fan of firemen, especially who risk their lives, with the sole intent of helping others. If a FEW do things that hurt the image of Volunteer Firefighters, I think it is helpful to point out that these are, a TINY minority, and might want to curtail such activity.
