I've got the two rods Time supplies with the frameset. Anything of a similar size will work.

But, I wonder why would it get stiff when cold? If anything, it should get looser as it wears.

Maybe it's just too tight? Or, the grease is so gunked up and contaminated with non-greasy stuff it hardens when cold? Please let us know how this turns out...
