I'm with Dave.
Float is awesome, I like knowing I have a little wiggle room when hopping curbs and doing anything in urban/offroad environments.
Plus on pedals like Time ATAC's (and I'm assuming any other similar design) the float has a friction, meaning my foot is locked in straight under normal riding, but I have quite a bit of play room before I actually disengage.
It's not like my foot is just sliding around on the pedal, I have to physically want to use my float.
