Of course I had my tongue fairly well planted in my cheek, but on a serious note, there are many reasons and different motives to cycle. For me, fitness is probably at the top. Cycling helps my physical and emotional well being. There is some pride involved as a motive. I can feel good that I'm not burning gasoline and using relatively few petrochemicals, but to be honest, it's the exercise.
I applaud you and others for utility cycling; it's simply not the prime motive for others.
