I wear Swrve knickers. They look good, are slim so the pockets don't swing their contents around your thighs when you're riding, have back pockets deep enough to fit a mini-U lock, are reinforced in the right areas, comfortable and relatively cheap. I even got a pair of the water resistant ones, and they work really well in the rain. Knickers/shants seem like a pretty good compromise between fashion and function. I'm surprised I don't see more people wearing them.
