KHS F20-R Photo

Took a run down to the somewhat local bike shop about an hour away and snapped this photo of the KHS bike that is rapidly winning my affection.

Probably won't get it but that doesn't mean I don't want it.

In a related story today was the day I finally got some photos of the monument to the American B-24 Bomber shot down near here at the end of WW2. This site isn't too horribly far from the LBS.

The crew was captured and taken to Hiroshima where they were died during the Atomic Bombing. While the monument is in Japanese its more of a Peace Memorial. It basically says "this thing happened here during war, we hope for peace, and hope nothing like this happens again"

It seems so unusual to me that the Japanese would construct a monument to a shot down enemy aircraft. But the tie in is Hiroshima. Anyway I found it damned interesting.

The name of the aircraft was the "Lonesome Lady" googling it finds a some good resources from what I think was the only survivor from the crew. The other guy was taken somewhere other than Hiroshima and actually released at the end of the war rather than killed by his captors.
