Bringing up an old thread. This race is coming up in less than 2 weeks and I was wondering who might be doing it?

Rode it yesterday with two friends. Pushed pretty hard and my legs hurt so bad all afternoon, I thought I was going to throw up. I did a hard 3.5hrs the day before and I think that did me in..LOL. I love this climb, but it is physically and mentally one of the hardest I have ever done and I am from Bishop/Mammoth Ca where the Everest Challenge takes place.

Just to reiterate what has been said about this climb/race: 5700feet in 17.5 miles and you can see 3000 feet up the road at one point; that really mind ****s you!!! The lack of turns and literally only one 100yrd (if that) flat spot for rest really does you in. By about the 12 mile mark you ask yourself "why did I start bike racing and why am I doing this to myself?"

BTW, my good friend who I rode with slaughtered it yesterday. His time was good enough for 2nd overall as well as second in the 1/2/pro per last yrs results. Considering it was just a training ride, that is amazing.

This race does attract a lot of sandbaggers though. Guys that are just climbing specialist; do a few hill climb TTs/hilly RRs a yr and have been 4/5s for over 4 yrs!!! LOL.
