I think these would work perfect for commuting in coming winter. Both have a road bike frame and gearing (50/39/30) with the ability to accomodate full coverage fenders and a rack.

Can anyone provide insight into the specs which look very similair to me. The Speed 30 is $1000 while the Speed 50 is $500. The only major difference in the higher priced model is a carbon fork and 105 rear derailleur (instead of a steel fork and Sora). Does that justify and an extra $500?
