Light technology has been evolving fast over the last few years.. A light that is 5+ years is an antique by lighting standards of today..

The average bright light is around 500 lumens while there are new models that will be available soon from name brand vendors that will be putting out over 1000 lumens..

When I did my 1st night rides in the early 80's I used a light called a wonderlight, that probably put out 10 lumens and that seemed acceptable for that time..
