TOTALLY support your local shops!
What? The prices are higher? Well, don't they support your local track culture? Doesn't that make it worth the few extra dollars? America is too wealthy for us to be so stingy.
It all comes back to you one way or another. Hey- if you don't want a healthy local culture, don't support your local shops. But that seems like a crappy way to live. If you have local shops that support the "track/fixie culture"- SUPPORT THEM! You don't live in a vacuum... And you're not going to die tomorrow if you spend $2 more on a cog, etc. We're all living in relative luxury already.
What we all need is good, healthy local culture! Be thankful for what you have and contribute to make it better.

Where would bikeforums.net be without people willing to contribute? Ain't no free lunch, brothers and sisters.
