High quality! For sure. I only suggest alloy drums and metal frames. Larger diameter drums are easier to get used to.
I bought (traded actually) my Kreitlers, third hand, seven years ago. I replaced the belt once. Thousands of miles with wonderful service.

As far as base miles- you might want to think about a fluid/magnetic/wind trainer... I use the rollers for form, cadence, smooth pedal stroke... Trainers are easier for 2-4 hour sessions while I'll use my rollers for 1-2 hours. I also like the rollers for warming up at the track- nice with lower resistance.
