Either way, I think you'll be ok.
The problem is that I ride this road to work every week. Sure dirty looks aren't a big deal, but motorists with a grudge is. Most drivers seem pretty considerate as it is, but now there are at least two that might think "why should I let that a-hole bike in front of me, i'm flooring it around him"... or something similar..
