I drove that section of 70 and 24 four years ago. I did not think to evaluate it for cycling at the time, but I'm pretty sure the grade and shoulder of either one is pretty good for riding a bike.

Be sure to note the names of the mountains and towns you pass. I got a kick out of the fact that Mt Clinton, near Mt Democrat and Mt Arkansas, is near Climax....

Mt Elbert is a nice climb, but don't do it in cycling shoes.
