And as the only IT guy in my area, if anything were to happen to me (G-d forbid) it would cause a lot of havoc for them as well.
Whose fault is it that they don't have any backup for you? Do you have to refrain from all other "dangerous" activities too, like maybe skiing, or rock climbing, or contact sports, or whatever it is you like to do? If so, I hope you're well compensated for that. Would they be in any better situation if you got hurt doing something completely innocuous?
