Bikes: 2010 Specialized Roubaix comp (SRAM Rival), 2009 Trek 7.3FX, Early 80's steel frame Suteki road bike

+1 on using a fork mount. I picked up a fork mount on eBay for about $15 shipped, and use it in the bed of my pick-up. Should work just as well for your application.
