I see it pretty frequently. I personally think it's stupid to ride without a helmet, but to each his own I guess. I would hate to be a vegetable for life, or die, because I didn't put on a helmet. FWIW, I've landed pretty solidly on my head (hard enough to leave an abrasion on my head UNDER the helmet) twice now while mountain biking. You won't catch me out there without a helmet.
