All of this is true for me, too, though I think I got my first in 1978.

The Skid Lid was found to be a terribly unsuitable helmet, though it sold well where I worked. We also sold those leather hairnet helmets, which were also found to offer no significant protection.

I have a good helmet habit but if I ever forget it or lose it, I don't obsess, and I ride anyway. But now I own three helmets to make losing them all less likely. I usually know where at least one of them is.
