That's pretty much the plan. The swelling and pain went away so quickly after the last big pop of pain on Sat night, I have to consider my natural robust immune system worked it's magic. In general that's true as I've never had any medical complications in my life as a result of infections of any sort. Rarely had dental issues either until this year at age 50. For this current molar bout though, some final antibiotics will finish the infection off before the surgery.
Any post op pain I can deal with. No way will it be anywhere near the level I experienced Sat night before downing the vicodin. Friggin ice pick dipped in molten metal and jabbing into my jaw is how it felt. After the first vicodin, I waited just this side of patience for it to kick in, and for a distraction I watched Young Frankenstein on DVD. At the end of the movie I felt like how the monster must have felt after being awakened from the dead. Still in enough pain, so I downed another vicodin with an ibuprofen chaser. Then I stumbled to bed and sat there in the dark and in pain until that sweet happy zone overtook me. I woke up a couple hours later with my pillow soaked with drool. Nice.
