Why the hate for Beacon? I used to regularly take Beacon from Cleveland Circle in to Kenmore or further when my better half lived in Brookline, and never had issues. I never rode Comm much, only west of Washington St. where it turns into a nice ride pretty quickly past BC. The only road I was really careful to avoid was Boylston... that's a scary ride.

About that lane though... who the f*ck would put a bike lane to the right of a right turn lane? That's the worst idea I've ever seen. Everywhere else in the city where a bike lane and a turn lane exist, the turn lane crosses to the other side of the bike lane via a dashed line right away, so by the intersection traffic has sorted itself out and the bike lane goes straight though without turning traffic crossing it. Why in god's name wouldn't they do that at this intersection?
