You could put moustache bars on. These are boutique flat bars with an interesting curve and they use road levers - but rotated so that are in flat bar position.
I'm using barcons now so, moustache bars work nicely. I was trying to keep it with a set of riser or flat bars. It's more of an experiment than anything else. Though the Paul thumbies, mentioned above, would work also.
