Motobocane 700 DS

I picked up this bike for just a little bit of money. After getting it home I'm beginning to appreciate it as a pretty nice entry level FS mountain bike. I'm not sure of the year, but guess that it is a late 1990's or early 2000's model. I' It has double Alex double wall rims, RST 281 fork, coil rear shock with 3 connections points on the frame (which connection provides the stiffest and softest settings)? Tektro V brakes, 21 speed Grip shift, Aluminum frame. It has the "Y" type frame, how far should the seat post be inserted into the seat tube to avoid the possibility of cracking the seat tube (I need as much extension as possible)? I'm really surprised that the 15.5 inch frame w/170mm cranks fits my 30 inch inseam, I find the rear suspension intriguing, as the crank spindle is attached to it. Maybe this will reduce pedal bob. It also has a neat looking heavy adjustable stem. I think this could be a nice all mountain bike with a upgraded fork. I will post pictures as soon as I can this afternoon. What does the community think?

Thanks in advance,
Uni
