Another Sugarloaf victim here. I was riding combined 35/45 + field (about 70 riders). Made it up Sugarloaf with the lead group twice, then got a massive cramp on the back side of the course trying to bridge a small gap. Had to get off and stretch and abandoned shortly after that. Even without the cramp I wouldn't have survived the heat for much longer--temp was about 92F and humidity about 50%.
My Garmin said 54.8 mph off Sugarloaf. Kudos to Kristen Losasso (women pro) who rode with us and came in about 4th or 5th overall.
Heat aside, a fantastic course. I haven't raced a lot in Florida, but it reminded me a lot of the famous Morgul Bismark course from when I used to race in Colorado.
