Purple power is highly caustic and bad for aluminum. I would never use it near aluminum, particularly in a chain cleaning device. If it runs off the chain an onto the RD or chainrings and crank, it will eventually cause corrosion.
Mineral spirits, kerosene or diesel won't do that. Diesel is quite oily.
My bike's not aluminum, but I don't get the stuff near the bike when I use it. I take the chain off the bike and soak it in a small sealable container of Purple Power, then rinse it thoroughly before lubing it and putting it back on the bike.
