If you want to bend open that compressed fixture, best way to do that is to insert an old seat tube and gradually pull it back. It will open the fixture up without scraping the steel. Tried it on a road bike and worked great.
I just used a big screwdriver in the slot, to lever it so the ears are parallel with each other. You have to be gentle. Then I use a Thomson, Campy old Record, or American Classic 27.2 post with the brass shim. With a good amount of grease the post sinks right into place.
