well, the whole brakeless thing, backpedalling thing, skidstopping thing. those things are factors that i consider for choosing gearing on my fixie. since you can coast on a SS and have brakes, those factors have no bearing on your decision for gearing. ive never ridden a straight up single speed so i have no idea on what works well.
