My recommendation: "Just keep riding." That's my motto - and I hope to keep doing it through age 85, if not more...

Just one caution, be prepared to be humbled as you both get older. Three years ago, I could outrun my grandson on his multi-speed BMX bike with my Dahon single-speed. A couple of months ago he (at age 11) could drop me and my NWT anytime he wanted on his new GIANT Defy3 road bike. Even his mother (age 42 and in good shape) is contemplating getting a 105 level road bike so she has a chance of keeping up with him. His dad, who plays basketball, but has never ridden very much, just shakes his head.

Yes, I'm enjoying it - you will, too. (Below is shot of grandson and I on our last ride - the Burke-Gilman trail in Seattle. Very innocent looking kid, but not when he's on a bike.)
