I never realized that I had been contributing to a vicious cycle (excuse the pun) by feeding the squirrels in my backyard. The hungry monsters act like savage beasts when they attack their ear of corn, and then head toward the "squirrel proof birdfeeder" for more.
I only began this because I was trying to make peace with them when we moved into our house. Any time we would walk outside, they would throw acorns down at us. The little buggers had pretty good aim too. Once I started feeding them, they left me alone, yet still bombed my husband. Now they have seen him put food out a few times and have eased up on both of us.
They are the only pets that I have. Now I must face a difficult moral issue: Do I continue to feed fuel to squirrels, who will in turn reproduce and have babies that will cause hazards to fellow bikers?
