Some hipsters are dicks, some roadies are dicks. It's a sausage fest out there. I'm from OC so I've definitely seen my fair share. It's mostly the teenagers that talk ****. But you can't expect much from them. Kids are kids. I wouldn't worry too much about "get some gears". At least you don't get called a "fixie ***" by bros in their raised 5mpg monster trucks every time you roll into the street.
