Check for a split in the G spring aluminum carrier-- it'll be noticeable if it's cracked.

Hooking the thumb shifter plate onto it's spring and rotating it into place is the trickiest move in the reassembly.

One more comment -- don't glop a lot of grease on all the assembly components-- it makes the shifting too slow.
