blowing my first post on this weeee

I ride into downtown from the northeast and have found the bus drivers return courtesy 10 fold. I'll suck up the few minutes in momentum i'll lose by slowing to let the bus merge in front of me. If I see a crowd at the stop i'll slip on by him after he stops. If there's hardly anyone and we're facing uphill, i'll hang out behind the bus. The stops along my route are almost a mile apart, so I don't usually have to worry about catching up right away. I've noticed that after a few wave-ins, the busses have been especially conscious of me. I even had one slow and hold up traffic a little as I was merging out of a right-turn-only lane.

Since neither of you can read the other's mind, i think there's just a bit of miscommunication and a clash of intentions. momentum is the world to us, but not at the cost/risk of forcing an uncomfortable situation.

question: as the bus is approaching from the side, have you tried standing up for a sprint? nothing says "i'm getting out of your way" like a butt held aloft, bouncing in pure spite of their wants. Well, that and the fact that you look pretty much the same to a driver when you're sitting and huffing it vs. sitting and braking. They don't have the time to peer down at your feet.

the burden of visibility is on us. If you've fulfilled this and you're still getting buzzed then by all means ring their phones off the hook.
