I lace mine so when Im pushing on the pedal that spoke is pushing the other spoke in instead of out.

Since we measure the distance from the rear derailleur to the spokes static; when under power we dont know how close it really gets to it if the wheel grows i.e. you'd have to measure wheel deflection under power to make sure it didnt grow enough to hook the rd. .. just say'n thats what I was told/read

I brought this up in the "You shall all covet the latest Pcad Bike Schwag Acquisition" thread yesterday. I lace mine with the heads out and spoke inside the hub like you do and for the reasons above.
