If your are implying that all MTB derailers don't work with STI you are incorrect. Only the front derailer uses a different pull ratio. You have to use a road front derailer with STI*. The rear derailer uses the same pull ratio on road or MTB.
Already addressed in the following posts. In my mind at the time of typing, it was clear from the context of my post that I was speaking about front deraillers but after re-reading, I realized that it was misleading.
