ETA: Wait, scratch that: they don't appear to have an aluminum Equinox already. Nonetheless, the costs of fabricating a brand new, small-batch Equinox in aluminum are not all that large. The design has been done, there need to be some minor tweaks made to allow for welding, then the material needs to be acquired, shaped and welded up. Not a big deal if you've got the pull that Trek does.
