clipless is not designed to withstand the forces from skidding/skipping, I'd trust my clips/straps over my road pedals/shoes anyday (on my fixed gear anyway.)
what? really?
i mean, with my mks fit doubles, i feel pretty secure, but I'd say it's comparable security with my clipless (some $15 wellgo mountain pedals and pumas i converted to clipless use) for up-and-down security. with lesser straps, i feel there's too much slop.
clipless is very sketch for trackstands though, mostly since I'll eventually lose my balance and I can get out of clips more intuitively than clipless.

I bought some plemonsco straps since they're super sexy when i was in SF last weekend, tried them out I liked them. when i get new pedals or whatever, I'll do a review after I get more time to try them out. seem like a good deal at 60 bucks though, they're not laminated but the design makes it work alright that they arent
