I myself am either a clydesdale or a hogsquasher (obese biker),176 cm 106 kg currently, 118 kg at my heaviest in 1998. I have been biking for 20 years and considerable distances, most notably the 100-km ride from Moffett Field, where I work, to Hollister. I have also biked to San Francisco, about 70 km away, 22 times, also to Oakland, Half Moon Bay, Sausalito, and Santa Cruz. I am on my 21st bike, three fell apart from heavy use, the others got stolen, also heavily used. I ride about 5000 km/year, which is about 100 times what the average American does. Europeans bike considerable more.
