It's not. I went to the LBS and they measured it with a fancy gizmo (sleek blue anodized aluminum to boot!). Probably the same tool you mentioned? Anyway, the guru told me that calipers are inaccurate, and only this specialized tool will work. The good news is, this means I do remember how to read vernier calipers

Anyway, I got most of what I need and decided to go with a 46t chainring and 11-32 cassette with a Shimano Acera RD. The chainring will be in next friday, and much awesomeness will ensue
