SRAM road/mtb compatibility

I noticed that SRAM advertises a 1:1 actuation ratio on both its road rear derailleurs and many of its MTB derailleurs (e.g. X.5,7,9, etc).

Does that mean I could use, for example, an X.7 RD on a Force-equipped road bike to get more chain wrap and cog clearance? The only reason I can think of to do this right now would be to run one of the IRD super-wide-range 11-32 10sp cassettes. I believe it's possible with Shimano, so I'm curious if SRAM users also have that option.
