My argument is not "for or against" carbon fiber. I think they offer the best performance and weight but when I see what goes into a ti frame built in USA, the mainland Chinese $4k frames seem odd to me.
Then:
A) Don't buy the 4k carbon frames.
B) Buy a USA made custom frame.
C) Both A & B.
I currently own 3 frames.
1) CAAD9 Road bike. Material: Al.(My race bike)
2) Ti Cycles Custom Steel Cross frame. Got it in a trade and it works for me.
3) 84 Trek 760 Steel.
All three were handmade in the US.
I didn't do that by choice, but I love all three of the frames.
