This sounds exactly like a loose bb to me.

when your pedals are at 12/1 o'clock, grab them while standing over the bike and see if there's any side to side movement.

If there is, you'll probably need to get in there and crank your bb lockring down a bit.

Is this a sealed unit or an open ball bb?
