Just curious, how many times have you asked to bring your bike in a store? Let me guess ... never?
Believe it or not, many employees "get it" after you explain your situation, and either offer to watch your bike, allow you to bring it inside, or help by grabbing the item for you. I've experienced each situation, with very helpful employees ... have you? And if they don't, you decide how bad you need the item (and how fast you can get it).
You just keep on painting a picture that is not accurate. Would I recommend that everyone riding a bike drop their locks and start asking to bring it inside? Absolutely NOT. So stop arguing from that position.
