Gearbasher, my Peugeot competition 500 is also Columbus Thron.

Thron is fairly low on the Columbus pecking order, it's a basic cro-mo tube. I am upgrading my frame to a carbon fork this week (it's in the shop now, and I pick it up thursday). Thron is not as light as, say, SLx, Ultra Foco or Genius. This may or may not be relevant to you...

The current Guerciotti steel bike, the Pirana, is made from Dedacciai tubing, and costs considerably more than $500... I can also give the factory /showroom a ring for you as I am in Milano at the moment, if you have any specific doubts or questions I can see if i can put them to Alessandro Guerciotti or one of his team.

Hope this helps.
Simon
