I live in Michigan it is rare to find someone without a gun in the woods. I am used to it and see it all the time as I am out in the woods often. There is pretty much year round hunting of some sort and these yahoos take it pretty seriously.
These yahoos you're talking about, are they they yahoos around here who take biking in the woods seriously or are they the guys hunting? Because other than choice of activity, there really is little difference between the two. I'd bet more hikers are run down by fast moving bikers than bikers are shot by hunters in any given year.
