Since when do firms care about what kind of customers they get as long as they're customers? I'm not sure what you mean, because I think business nowadays still revolves around the producer pleasing the consumer, not vice versa. Amazon ain't (yes, I know) gonna go around whacking customers off a list because they don't think like the way they shop. Consumers have, almost always had, and will always have the buying power in US economy.
