why not? They are all the same mechanism. The cheaper ones simply use steel in some parts instead of aluminum. You just need to make sure to match the chain to the derailleur. In other words, if you run 10 speed chain, use a 10 speed front derailleur, which puts you at Tiagra and up.
Incorrect...I use a DA7800 everything except for the FD which is an old Ultegra 6500 9 spd fd and it works perfectly.
