I am looking at purchasing a German touring bike which comes with Magura HS 11 hydraulic rim brakes as standard. I have no experience with such a braking system having only previously owned bikes with the standard canti/V/caliper braking systems. From what I gather hydraulic rim brakes offer strong stopping power and need very little maintenace if they are correctly set-up and adjusted.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of brakes? My worry would be if anything was to go wrong I would possibly have trouble trying to sort the problem myself due to its complexity.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
